I love a good pair of stud earrings. They're easy to wear, endlessly versatile, and a beautiful way to show off a natural gemstone. Whether it's a simple pair for everyday wear or something a little more unusual, I think the best studs combine interesting design with comfort and practicality.

Why I Choose Friction Posts Instead of Screw Backs
After more than a decade working in fine jewelry, I've seen firsthand what works—and what causes problems—with earring backs.
That's why I use sturdy friction posts with strong, snug-fitting backs on my stud earrings.
While screw backs are often marketed as the most secure option, I've found that they come with some real disadvantages. The threaded posts can be uncomfortable going through a piercing, and screw backs need to be checked and tightened regularly. Over time, they can loosen without the wearer noticing.
They're also more complicated to replace. Screw backs must match the specific threading of the post, which can make repairs or replacements unnecessarily expensive.
I prefer a well-made friction post paired with a properly fitting, secure back. They're comfortable, easy to put on and take off, and simple to maintain. If a back ever becomes loose or worn, replacing it is generally straightforward.
It's a practical choice based on years of experience, and one I feel confident making for my own jewelry.
