Mettle in the Wild
Good jewelry has a way of getting around.
Mettle by Abby is a one-woman jewelry studio built around unusual gemstones, traditional metalsmithing, and the idea that no two people—and no two pieces of jewelry—should be exactly alike.
I've been making jewelry for more than two decades, and along the way, Mettle has made a few appearances beyond my studio. From conversations with Atlanta publications to recognition within the jewelry industry, here's a collection of the places my work and story have turned up.

From the People Who Wear Mettle
The best part of making jewelry is knowing that something created at my bench becomes part of someone else's life.
Over the years, collectors have shared stories about the pieces they've chosen, the occasions they've marked, and what their jewelry means to them.

Follow Along at the Bench
There's a lot more to jewelry than the finished piece.
If you're curious about the process, follow along for raw gemstones, torch work, fabrication, experiments, works in progress, and a look at the little world behind Mettle.
Mettle Beyond the Studio
My work doesn't stop at the jeweler's bench. Over the years, I've also written about gemstones, jewelry sizing, materials, and the practical details of choosing and wearing jewelry.
And some of that knowledge has traveled well beyond my own website.
My article What Length Chain Do I Need? has attracted 249 incoming links from 91 different websites, connecting readers across the internet with the jewelry knowledge I've gathered over more than two decades.

Raw Gemstone Jewelry: 5 Must-Haves
Whether I'm explaining how to find the right necklace length or exploring what makes a gemstone extraordinary, I believe sharing knowledge is just as much a part of being an artist as creating the work itself.
Still Making, Still Exploring
Every piece of Mettle by Abby is individually handmade. I work with natural gemstones, solid 14k gold, and Argentium sterling silver, creating jewelry that celebrates character, curiosity, and individuality.
There's always another interesting stone waiting on my bench, another idea taking shape, and another piece that hasn't existed before.
Made with mettle. Worn with spirit.
