This is one of those stones that seems to have its own light source.

Rather than the more familiar orange and copper tones of sunstone, this gorgeous natural sunstone glows with layers of pink, soft purple, and flashes of fiery color that come alive as the stone moves in the light. It's a substantial gemstone—about an inch tall—with enough size to really see all of that color and internal sparkle.

I kept the setting open and simple, framing the stone in sterling silver and finishing it with an elongated paperclip-style chain. The clean lines of the chain give the necklace a slightly modern edge while letting that big, beautiful sunstone remain the entire point.

It's a lot of gemstone, a lot of color, and a seriously beautiful piece for the price.

This one feels more like the sky when the sun is low: pink and violet beginning to creep into the light, with little bursts of fire still glowing underneath.
