A galaxy. Seriously. Look at this freaking stone.

This enormous iolite sunstone is almost two inches long, with deep violet and midnight blue running through flashes of electric pink, lavender, and scattered points of fiery sunstone sparkle. Every time the light changes, something else appears.

I wanted to pull that pink forward, so I hand-fabricated a sterling silver bail and set a 3mm rhodolite garnet directly into it. That tiny saturated garnet becomes this bright little point of color above the enormous stone—and suddenly you notice all those same pinks hiding inside the iolite sunstone.

The stone itself is held in an intentionally asymmetrical prong setting. Most of the setting is spare and open, but one corner gathers three prongs together—a small, unexpected detail against the long organic pear shape.

And I don't make a lot of bails. So when I do one, apparently I put a gemstone in the damn thing.

The Story

Some of the stones in this collection remind me of sunset.

Some remind me of clouds.

This one is outer fucking space.

There are layers and streaks and tiny points of light buried inside this stone. Pink sunstone flashes against enormous expanses of violet and blue, and depending on where the light hits, entirely new little worlds seem to show up.

That's why I called it the Wearable Galaxy Necklace.

The rhodolite garnet is almost like the first star you notice. Once you see that tiny point of vivid pink, your eye starts finding the same color scattered throughout the stone.

This isn't a quiet little pendant.

It's almost two inches of sky hanging around your neck.
