Celestial Boulder Opal Earrings

Description

Like tiny galaxies suspended in stone, these one-of-a-kind Mexican boulder opals seem to glow from within.

Brilliant flashes of emerald green, electric blue, fiery orange, and crimson appear and disappear as the light moves across the stones. The soft, pale host rock gives them an ethereal quality unlike most boulder opals, creating little worlds of color that feel almost cosmic.

The two opals are intentionally different sizes, complementing the subtle asymmetry of the design. One earring features a freely moving silver halo above the stone, while the other suspends the halo below it, creating graceful movement that catches both light and attention.

The Story

I found these in Arizona after spending hours digging through tray after tray of gemstones under the desert sun.

I wasn't looking for ordinary opals.

I wanted stones that stopped me in my tracks.

Opals like these are incredibly difficult to find. Most Mexican boulder opals simply don't have this level of fire. These seemed to glow from within, their pale host rock creating the dreamy appearance of distant nebulae while brilliant flashes of color erupted across the surface.

By the end of the search, I'd managed to sunburn the backs of my legs.

Worth it.

I carefully matched these two stones myself, then designed a setting that lets them dance in the light without distracting from what makes them extraordinary.

Sometimes nature has already created the masterpiece. My job is simply to frame it.
