Blue Opal & Smoky Quartz Mantle Necklace
I designed this piece around a mesmerizing blue opal cabochon that reminds me of frozen glaciers — serene, strong, and full of quiet depth. This opal has a rounded pear shape, about 1½ inches tall, and a beautiful wash of icy blue with just a whisper of soft gray on one edge. To complement that hint of gray, I paired it with a rose-cut smoky quartz accent, placed slightly to the wearer’s left, creating an elegant asymmetry and a subtle dialogue between warmth and coolness.
The stones are anchored in my mantle-style setting — a hand-forged silver bar that gives structure and grounding to these fluid, ethereal gems. The Argentium Silver chain is a sturdy, thick cable style that keeps the pendant perfectly balanced in front, with the clasp resting comfortably at the back of the neck.
This necklace feels like a meeting of earth and ice — timeless, natural, and full of quiet confidence.

Care Instructions
To clean your Mettle by Abby pieces, simply use a soft toothbrush in warm, mild soapy water. This will help remove dirt and oil from the gemstones and make them shine again, as well as keep the silver and gold looking bright and clean.
To polish silver Mettle by Abby pieces, simply buff with a silver polishing cloth. If you really want to give it a shining, you can use a silver polishing cream and then rinse it with water when done.
